MESSAGE #1508 A MESSAGE FROM VINCE LOMBARDI

The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless or their chosen field.

MESSAGE #1450 A MESSAGE FROM VINCE LOMBARDI

Of all the rings and all of the money and all of the color and display—they linger only in memory. The spirit, the will to win, and excel, these are the things that endure. The quality of any man’s life is the full measure of his commitment to excellence and to victory, regardless of what field he might be in.
—Vince Lombardi

MESSAGE #1284 THE SECRET TO WINNING

Winning means you’re willing to go longer, work harder, and give more than anyone else.
– VINCE LOMBARDI

MESSAGE #957 AND THE THOUGHT OF THE DAY IS…

Just do it.
-NIKE

I love creating blog messages every morning, but sometimes I don’t know what I want to say. So I go over to possibly the biggest motivational library on the planet, aka, my family room (thank you Dr. Gilbert) and I choose a book to get me started.

People talk about writer’s block, but I don’t believe in that. Just start writing – it doesn’t have to be great to start but it will start to be great.

So just write.
Just workout.
Just do the dishes.
Just make that call.

Just do it.

Here are some great quotes from today’s book of choice, STRIVE TO EXCEL, The Will and Wisdom of VINCE LOMBARDI compiled by JENNIFER BRIGGS…

Success is not a sometime thing – it is an all-time thing.

Making the effort to improve as a human being is what Coach Lombardi was all about. He was able to see the gap between where we were and what we could become – both as football players and as people. And he felt it was his God-given responsibility to close that gap.
-JERRY KRAMER

If you settle for nothing less than your best, you will be amazed at what you can accomplish in your life.

Second place is meaningless. You can’t always be first, but you have to believe you should have been – that you were never beaten – that time just ran out on you.

If he’d been a truck driver, he’d have given 100 percent there, too.
-LOU SPADIA, former San Francisco 49ers owner

So there you have it. I could have skipped Message #957 today, but I didn’t. I’m committed.

Exceptions shatter dreams. Besides, motivation is an action, not a feeling.

Have a great day everyone! Leave your comments or questions below.

MESSAGE #639 IT’S GREEK TO ME…

EXCELLENCE…

Vince Lombardi said, “Perfection is not attainable. But if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence.”

Aristotle said, “Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.”

Abraham Lincoln said, “Whatever you are, be a good one.”

Can we all attain excellence, or is it reserved for the select few?

I believe excellence is already inside of all of us.

But what does excellence mean to you?

I’ll tell you what it means to the Greeks – Dia Phoron.

I love it.

Why?

Because literally translated, it means “follow through.”

Finish what you start.

Do what you say you’re going to do.

And be excellent.

MESSAGE #461 A QUOTE FROM A GREAT COACH…

“The spirit, the will to win, and the will to excel are the things that endure. These qualities are so much more important than the events that occur.”

Vince Lombardi

MESSAGE #411

Vince Lombardi said that the quality of someone’s life is directly related to that person’s commitment to excellence and victory.

I agree.

Do you want to be excellent and victorious at tennis, painting or sales? How about relationships?

Skills are important, but your attitude is the key.

Do you have the ability inside you to become great?

Of course you do. You just have to start taking action. Start acting how you want to become and you will start to become the way you act.

You can only become as great as your self image, so start being your own fan – your own inner coach instead of inner critic.

Start today!
