MESSAGE #1578

Competition in its best form is a test of self. It has nothing to do with medals. The winner is the person who gets the most out of themselves.
-Al Oerter

MESSAGE #1577

When cerebral processes enter into sports, you start screwing up. It’s like the Constitution, which says separate church and state. You have to separate mind and body.
-Bill Lee

MESSAGE #1574 YOU’RE GOING TO LOSE

I have a feeling you are going to lose.

We all lose. Every competition has a winner and a loser. But that’s not the point.

Nobody likes to lose, but even the greatest athletes in the world lose. So what’s the difference between the great ones and the mediocre ones?

Their mistake response…how they react to losses.

Is it failure, or is it feedback?

Do you get frustrated, or do you get fascinated?

How you respond to your mistakes is far more important than the result itself.

Winners lose more than losers lose. Think about that.

MESSAGE #1573 PERSEVERANCE

By perseverance the snail reached the ark.

You may not be a snail, but you still need to persist.

If your goal is to make your high school baseball team, or become a chocolatier, it doesn’t matter how slowly you go, as long as you do not stop.

One of the biggest problems people have is that they stop too soon. Then they try something else. And probably stop too soon with that as well.

If you persist while others give up when they face adversity, or get frustrated, guess who’s going to be left at the top?

YOU.

Don’t try your best, do whatever it takes.
