I have a feeling that there is a reader out there who knows exactly what they need to do to succeed.

In fact, MOST of you know exactly what you need to do to succeed.

Practice more.

Study more.

Make sales calls more.

So what is the difference between most people and the peak performers?

If you know what to do, but you don’t do what you know, it’s like going to a restaurant, reading the menu and leaving.

Think about that.

Five baseball players were sitting on a bench. Three of them decided to go practice.

How many baseball players were left?

Answer: Five.

Just because three players decided to go practice, doesn’t mean they did.

Just because you say you’re going to start working out, doesn’t mean you will.

Just because you say you’re going to start eating healthy, doesn’t mean you will.

I don’t care about what you DECIDE.

I care about what you DO.

What are you going to do today?

Thunder is good, thunder is impressive, but it is the lightning that does the work.

You might be able to talk the talk, but can you walk the talk?

Some people love to say that they are talented or skilled, but that doesn’t impress me.

Talk is cheap.

Here’s what I care about…

1. How hard are you working?

2. What actions are you taking to help you attain your goals?

3. Are you making the necessary adjustments if your current plan is not working?

I don’t care if you SAY you are going to start working out, or quit smoking or start practicing more.

I only care about what actions you are taking.

You get results by action, not by words.

So impress me, I dare you.

I know something about you.

You want to become successful at something.

Perhaps it’s in sports.

Perhaps it’s in business.

Perhaps it’s in school.

I know something else…

The reason why most people do not become successful.

They don’t take action.

Knowledge is only good if you use it.

It’s the start that stops most people.

You know what you need to do, so don’t think about it, just do it.

With all the great athletes I have encountered, I noticed a quality that they all share.

They all do what they need to do, when they need to do it, whether they feel like it or not.

If you’re a runner, just start running.

If you’re in sales, just start making those calls.

If you’re a student, just start studying.

It’s that simple.

Five birds are sitting on a wire.

Three of them decide to fly off.

How many birds are left?

Most say two.

The answer: five.

Just because the three birds decided to fly off, doesn’t mean they did.

What are you putting off doing today?

Remember…Motivation is not a feeling, it’s an ACTION.

Vince Lombardi said that the quality of someone’s life is directly related to that person’s commitment to excellence and victory.

I agree.

Do you want to be excellent and victorious at tennis, painting or sales? How about relationships?

Skills are important, but your attitude is the key.

Do you have the ability inside you to become great?

Of course you do. You just have to start taking action. Start acting how you want to become and you will start to become the way you act.

You can only become as great as your self image, so start being your own fan – your own inner coach instead of inner critic.

Start today!
